  • Description: At Nevada Irrigation District (NID), we care about our customers. We are pleased to offer our Low-Income Rate Assistance (LIRA) program to those who meet the income guidelines below or participate in other assistance programs listed. Qualifying customers receive a fixed monthly discount of $9.00.To qualify for this discount:. Applicant must provide proof of enrollment in one of the following qualified public assistance programs: o Medicaid/Medi-Cal for Families A&B o Supplemental Security Income (SSI) o CARE (gas & electric company discount) o Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance. The NID account must be in your name.. You must live at the address where the discount will be received.. Following enrollment, you may be required to provide continued proof of eligibility.. It is the responsibility of the applicant to reapply for the discount every year.. Customers enrolled in LIRA must keep their account current. If service is disconnected for non-payment, customer may be removed from the program and will be ineligible to reapply for 12months, during which time there must be no additional disconnections in service.. LIRA is not retroactive; customers who qualify will begin receiving the discount in the month following notification of eligibility.. You must notify NID within 30 days if your household no longer qualifies for the LIRA discount.The program may be suspended, modified or terminated at any time by the Board of Directors and there is no entitlement to receive assistance. Implementation of any alternative, mandated state or federal low-income water rate assistance program shall result in the immediate cessation of the District's LIRA Program.
